Booking Terms & Conditions

These Booking Terms outline the key conditions of hire and form part of your agreement with Lakeland Camper Hire.

By confirming your booking and/or collecting the campervan, you agree to the Terms & Conditions governing your hire..

1. Booking & Payment

  • A £200 non-refundable booking deposit secures your dates.

  • The remaining balance is due six weeks before your hire.

  • Bookings made within six weeks of travel require full payment at the time of booking.

2. Cancellation

If you need to cancel:

  • More than 6 weeks before hire – the £200 deposit is retained.

  • Between 6 and 2 weeks before hire – 50% of the total hire fee is retained.

  • Less than 2 weeks before hire – 100% of the hire fee is retained.

We strongly recommend suitable travel insurance.

3. Driver Requirements

Drivers must:

  • Be aged 25–75

  • Have held a full licence for at least 2 years

  • Have no more than two sets of three penalty points

  • Have no more than one fault claim in the last 3 years​

Before your trip we require:

  • Driving licence (front and back)

  • DVLA check code (UK licences)

  • Two proofs of address dated within 90 days

  • Signed rental agreement

  • £750 refundable security deposit

Failure to meet insurance criteria may result in cancellation.

4. Insurance & Excess

Fully comprehensive insurance is included.

  • Standard insurance excess: £750 per claim.

  • The security deposit reflects this excess.

If insurance is invalidated due to breach of the Terms (for example unauthorised driver, prohibited use, failure to report an accident), the Hirer may be fully liable for all resulting costs.

5. Security Deposit

  • £750 security deposit required three days before hire.

  • Condition check completed at collection and return.

  • Photographic or video evidence may be used.

  • Deposit returned within five working days following satisfactory inspection.

The security deposit does not limit liability where losses exceed this amount.

6. Use of the Vehicle

The campervan must not be used:

  • Off-road or on unsuitable terrain

  • Outside the UK

  • By unauthorised drivers

  • For racing or performance driving

  • For smoking or vaping

  • For transporting animals

  • For festival attendance without prior approval

You are responsible for the vehicle’s height and dimensions.

Damage caused by low bridges, barriers or overhead obstacles is not considered fair wear and tear.

7. Equipment & Safety

Please operate all onboard equipment (gas, heating, electrics) in accordance with the instructions provided.

Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms must not be tampered with.

Misuse of equipment may result in liability for resulting damage.

8. Fuel & Cleaning

  • The vehicle is supplied full and must be returned full.

  • Incorrect fuel renders the Hirer fully liable.

  • The vehicle must be returned clean and free from waste.

  • Excessive cleaning may result in a charge.

9. Accidents & Incidents

In the event of an accident or damage:

  • Notify us within 24 hours.

  • Notify the police where required.

  • Obtain third-party details.

  • Take photographs if safe to do so.

  • Complete any accident report form requested.

Failure to follow reporting procedures may invalidate insurance.

10. Late Return

  • £50 per hour late return charge.

  • After 4 hours, a daily hire rate may apply.

  • You may be liable for losses affecting subsequent bookings.

11. Tracking

The campervan is fitted with GPS tracking for security and insurance purposes. Location data is only accessed where reasonably necessary.

12. Liability & Governing Law

We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses such as loss of holiday enjoyment or earnings.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
